Grade 7 Lifelong Learning Journey: Excelling Across the Core Subjects

March 16, 2025

Kapawe’no First Nation – Our Grade 7 students at Buffalo Bay Academy have been making great progress in several key areas of their learning under the guidance of Ms Christine Cardinal and Ms Shannon Anderson. They have been focusing on strengthening their reading comprehension skills, using engaging activities and discussions to help them better understand and connect with different texts.

In math, students are successfully working through the JUMP Math program, building confidence in their problem-solving skills and deepening their understanding of key mathematical concepts. Regular practice and guided instruction have helped them improve their accuracy and fluency.

To enhance their language skills, students continue to practice their spelling through weekly spelling tests and interactive exercises that reinforce correct word usage and pronunciation. Both Nêhiyawêwin and English are used.
In health, students are exploring important life skills that promote overall well-being. Topics such as nutrition and personal hygiene are being discussed to help them develop healthy habits that will benefit them in the long run.
In science, they have recently introduced the study of plants. Hands-on activities and discussions are helping them engage with the material in meaningful ways.

Overall, our Grade 7 class is making steady progress across subjects, and we continue to encourage their growth through interactive and supportive learning experiences.
