Kapawe’no First Nation – Our Grade 5 and 6 students at Kapawe’no Nehiyawak School are writing newspaper articles and conducting research projects – Pisiskowak Reports (Animal Reports), developing essential skills in communication, critical thinking, and information literacy. As they research topics, they learn how to evaluate sources, distinguish facts from opinions and synthesize information effectively. Writing articles helps them practice clear and engaging writing, structure their ideas logically and consider their audience.
Additionally, they build teamwork and time management skills when collaborating with peers. Through this process, they gain confidence in expressing their thoughts and become more informed, responsible consumers and creators of information.
