Kapawe’no First Nation – Our Kapawe’no Nêhiyawak School has kicked off the start of 2024 with the super cool ‘Learn to Skate’ program. It’s right here in our own Synthetic Ice District, and Mrs Halcrow’s kindergarten and grade 1 children are having a blast! They’re putting on their skates, helmets, and gloves and learning how to skate. Mr. Brian Thomas, who teaches gym, is really happy to see all the children trying their best on the synthetic ice.
Mr. Thomas said, “It’s amazing to see our kids learn to skate. They’re not just having fun; they’re also getting ready to skate on real ice one day. We’re all about giving our kids these great chances to learn and grow.”
Everyone is excited about this program. It’s not just about skating; it’s about keeping our traditions alive and showing how strong and brave we can be, just like our ancestors. Go Kapawe’no kids!
