Kapawe’no First Nation – The students of Buffalo Bay Academy have recently returned from an unforgettable four-day music trip to Edmonton, marked by an exceptional achievement at the Jazzworks Band Festival. Participating in a variety of musical activities throughout the weekend, our grades 7 through 12 students showcased their talents, culminating in receiving the second-highest score in their category at provincials.
Their journey was a deep dive into the world of music, featuring an enriching workshop with the Edmonton Jazz Orchestra and participation in the renowned Jazzworks Band Festival. This experience not only enhanced their musical abilities but also fostered a profound appreciation for jazz among them.
The festival was a vibrant stage for our students to demonstrate their dedication and skill. Their performance was a testament to their hard work and the supportive environment nurtured at our school. Mr. Fred Mack, the music teacher, expressed his pride and excitement: “Incredible experience! They performed incredibly well. We received the second highest score in our category at provincials!!”
Teachers and parents alike shared the joy and pride in the students’ accomplishments. Teacher Ms Sherry Bellegarde remarked, “It was awesome. Our students were so good.
