Kapawe’no First Nation – In the music room at Buffalo Bay Academy, the air thrums with a potent mix of concentration and vitality. Mr. Mack leads our students through a disciplined rehearsal, each measure they play sharpening the edge of their sound. The music they’re preparing is set to be the pulse of the upcoming sports academy events in the very near future, designed to resonate the walls of the gymnasium and arena within the spirit of the Nation.
Mr. Mack, speaking on the role of our music program, says, “These pieces are more than just notes on a page; they are a celebration of who we are. We’re crafting a legacy here—a sound that speaks of our strength, unity and Muskwak pride. When our athletes hear these songs, they’ll know their Nation and school stands with them.”
As the sports season is still a ways away, the Buffalo Bay Academy’s musicians are learning to play together; they’re learning to play for something bigger than themselves—a testament to their collective identity and resilience. Muskwak pride forever!
