Edmonton, Treaty 6 – Kapawe’no Muskwak U18 team marked its entry into its first provincial in the elite division, navigating challenges of first time together, team chemistry and extensive line juggling. Kudos to Coaches Jarett Knibb, Darren Martin, Shooter Halcrow and Boh Kubrakovich-Kiniw with guess coach Don Burnstick.
Following a tough initial loss to the Kainai Chiefs, the team resolved to maintain their line-up and draw motivation from the purpose of their participation and the essence of the weekend – having fun and living the dream. This approach bore fruit in their second game.
Comedian and supporter Don Burnstick delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging the boys and coaches to have faith in their abilities, reinforcing that anything is possible. Driven by this and their traditional Muskwak chant, the team overcame initial nerves to secure a convincing win against the Kainai Shade.
