Kapawe’no First Nation – At Kapawe’no Nêhiyawak School the Grade K1 students, led by Mrs. Jackie Halcrow, are engaging themselves in Pwatisimow (powwow) under the beautiful guidance of Ms. Erin Thunder.
Pwatisimow is a vibrant expression of our Nêhiyawak miyo pimacihowin (way of life). “It’s inspiring to witness our young students embrace traditional dancing”, said Principal Mr Jorden Theissen.
Pwatisimow teaches them about miyo pimacihowin and allows them to participate in a living tradition that has been passed down through generations. The enthusiasm and energy they bring to each performance are a testament to the enduring spirit of the Nêhiyawak.
