Kapawe’no First Nation – Ashley Ghostkeeper, a renowned country artist and former AAA hockey player, recently visited Buffalo Bay Academy and Kapawe’no Nêhiyawak School virtually as part of The Confident Athlete program. Sharing her experiences, Ashley spoke about how her athletic and musical careers have taken her across North America, including significant stops in Texas and Nashville.Her stories illustrated the broad horizons that open up through dedication to sports and the arts. “Ashley embodies the spirit of our Confident Athlete program perfectly,” said Mr. Brian Thomas, Athletic Director.
During her visit, Ashley emphasized the importance of perseverance and hard work, inspiring students to stay committed to their goals. Many students remembered Ashley from her performance earlier in the year at the school and a subsequent red carpet event at the Alberta Country Music Awards, making her advice particularly impactful.
Ashley’s engagement highlights her role not just as an artist and athlete, but as a mentor encouraging young people to explore their passions fully. Her message of resilience and determination resonates deeply within the community, reinforcing the values championed by The Confident Student Athlete program.
