Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and kokums of our students and to the staff and teachers who are mothers at Kapawe’no Nêhiyawak School, Buffalo Bay Academy and FNVLC! Today, our schools are filled with the joy of arts and crafts created to honor this special occasion. Our Schools believes in celebrating mothers daily, recognizing their integral role in nurturing the next generation of Nêhiyawak.
Kapawe’no First Nation – Mother’s Day is also a day to reflect on our deep connection to Mother Earth, acknowledging her as the ultimate provider and sustainer of life. Our crafts and activities are expressions of love for our mothers and a tribute to Mother Earth, emphasizing the teachings of respect and gratitude that are core to our Nêhiyawak values.
As we celebrate, we reinforce the vital lessons of care, connection, and appreciation that our children carry with them, shaping a thoughtful and compassionate future.
