Kapawe’no First Nation – This Mother’s Day, the Grade 4 class at Buffalo Bay Academy showcased their creativity and developed key skills by crafting homemade microwavable bean bags and handprint flower paintings. Over a focused two-week period, our students honed their precision and fine motor skills, carefully selecting fabrics, measuring, cutting, and painting to create their gifts to moms.
Led by Mrs. Berlinda Sharkawi and Ms. Rosie Lewis, this project prepared a special surprise for Mother’s Day and has fostered essential developmental skills. Crafting the bean bags required careful measurement and coordination, while creating the flower paintings allowed the students to express their artistic vision through color blending. This immersive, hands-on learning experience not only highlighted the joy of creating meaningful items by hand but also strengthened the bond between mothers and children, leaving them with a profound sense of accomplishment and connection.
