Red Deer, Treaty 6 – On the weekend of May 24th, our dedicated Grade 7-12 band students drove to Red Deer to perform in the Alberta Band Association Festival of Bands. They did a stage performance, and a 1 hour workshop afterwards. The adjudicators/judges gave the students an overall rating of “Excellent”!
After the hard work and pressure of performing, the students got to unwind and enjoy the great outdoors. They stayed in cabins at Pioneer Camp on Crimson Lake (Past Rocky Mountain House), and explored the sites around Clearwater County and the Nordegg area. They saw wildlife, mountains, went for a long hike, and visited the beautiful Abraham Lake.
“This was a special and unique experience for our students, since many of them had never seen the mountains before!”, said Mr Fred Mack, Music Teacher and trip organizer. It’s noted that they fundraised for the trip.
