Kapawe’no First Nation – In the K/1 class, at Kapawe’no Nêhiyawak School led by Ms. Jackie Halcrow, Ms. Erin Thunder, and Ms. Daniella Lamouche, students are thriving through a dynamic and integrated approach to learning. Each day is filled with a balanced mix of literacy, numeracy, and Nêhiyawawin, ensuring a comprehensive and culturally rich learning experience.
Ms. Halcrow, Ms. Thunder, and Ms. Lamouche work diligently to keep the students engaged and active, both mentally and physically. The focus on literacy and numeracy is complemented by daily lessons in Nêhiyawawin, fostering a deep connection to the land and Pimachihowin.
Physical activity is also a crucial component of their routine, with Mr. Brian Thomas leading hand and eye coordination drills. These exercises are designed to enhance the students’ physical skills while promoting teamwork and concentration.
