FIRST NATION VIRTUAL LEARNING CENTRE (FNVLC)
“Knowledge Ever Increasing”
Since its establishment on April 1st, 2021, the First Nation Virtual Learning Centre (FNVLC) has embarked on a pioneering journey to define lifelong learning on Turtle Island for students in Grades 4-12. The mission is to enrich learning by blending ancestral wisdom with academics, and the vision is to foster a learning environment with both ancestral wisdom and contemporary knowledge to face and shape tomorrow’s challenges.
At FNVLC, we are committed to innovation in online learning, transforming education to be accessible anytime, anywhere. By integrating traditional learning principles with online platforms, we provide an educational experience infused with Nêhiyawak Pimachihowin, creating a transformative experience for our students.
Our approach emphasizes innovation, constantly evolving our curriculum and instructional design to meet the dynamic needs of our students. Personalized learning ensures each student thrives in their unique way. We believe every student deserves the best education, and our educators are dedicated champions of student success, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and cultural enrichment.
Our commitment to virtual education remains strong as we stream lessons to First Nation students across Turtle Island, ensuring access to quality learning regardless of location or circumstance. The future of education is boundless, and at FNVLC, we expand our virtual content to include various subjects, interactive virtual field trips, and personalized learning paths, determined to explore all possibilities.
Our guiding principles include cultural respect and preservation, inclusivity and equity, nation engagement, holistic learning, innovation and adaptation, empowerment, and sustainability. These principles shape our mission, vision, and approach to lifelong learning.
FNVLC integrates traditional educational principles with digital technology, blending Nêhiyawak (Cree) Pimachihowin with modern learning practices. This approach immerses students in Indigenous culture and wisdom, preparing them to thrive in a rapidly changing global landscape. Through our reliable Learning Management System, we offer transformative learning experiences and ensure inclusivity, addressing geographical and circumstantial barriers to quality education.
