Kapawe’no First Nation – We are excited to announce the planning for the upcoming school year. We have seen positive changes and our Strategic Plan for Lifelong Learning is being implemented.
We thank Mr. Bryan Richardson for his dedication to Education and Lifelong Learning. He has moved on from our First Nation Collegiate and Schools. We thank our teachers, staff, and students for the 2023/24 school year and welcome our returning and new staff for the 2024/25 school year.
Our Kapawe’no Nêhiyawak School offers full immersion in Nêhiyawêwin within core subjects and additional classes for students and teachers. Our learning apps are now integrated into all classes along with our on the land learning.
We are introducing Buffalo Bay Academy Junior (Grades 7-9) and Senior (Grades 10-12) High School as our Academic and Athletic program school. Sports academy activities will be after school with full academics throughout the day. We will have hockey teams in U15, U18 along with a travelling High School Basketball program both female and male. Other sports will be announced as we grow.
We continue with our Kaskapahtew Pekiskwewin (FNVLC) and Buffalo Bay Kaskitayanih-Ka Skih tah ya nih (Outreach/Adult Learning) for students who prefer to study at home, work at their own pace, and learn in a comfortable setting.
Our 80/80 policy on attendance and marks is now in effect for the rest of this year and will continue next year for all our schools. The Anti-Bullying program remains active. We have a declaration form for students who fall under the nominal roll to assist with tuition support.
Returning next year will be LAWF, Music, and special academies with daily theory and hands-on activities. Sports theory will be conducted with credits through such processes like the Confident Student Athlete program.
We have a great lineup of teachers for the 2024/25 year. The schedule is in draft form and other information is available on our website at www.kfnlearning.com. An Open House will be held and announced online.
