Kapawe’no First Nation – In Mrs. Tomkins’ Grade 5/6 class at Kapawe’no Nêhiyawak School, students have started playing Nêhiyawêwin (Cree) Jeopardy to sharpen their Nêhiyawêwin speaking skills. This fun and engaging game also offers Kapaweno dollars as an incentive.
The game features questions in five topics, requiring answers in either Nêhiyawêwin or English. The students have already shown improvement and are enjoying the learning process. The interactive nature of Nêhiyawêwin Jeopardy makes learning enjoyable and also fosters a deeper connection to the language and culture. The enthusiasm in the classroom is evident, with students eagerly participating and helping each other enhance their Nêhiyawêwin vocabulary and fluency.
