Welcome Back to School!

September 4, 2024

Kapawe’no First Nation – Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians; We are thrilled to welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year at Kapawe’no First Nation Collegiate (KFNC)! As we begin this new academic year, we are excited for the learning, growth, and opportunities that aw

ait us all. Our dedicat
ed staff is eager to embark on this journey with each of you, ensuring that FNC continues to be a place of community, culture, and academic excellence.
Important Dates for September:
• Meet the Teacher Night – September 11, 2024:
You are warmly invited to join us for a special “Meet the Teacher” evening starting at 6:00 PM. We will be serving Burgers, Hot Dogs, Smokies, and Chips, giving you the perfect opportunity to enjoy some food while meeting our 2024 FNC Staff. This is a great chance to connect, ask questions, and get to know the teachers who will be guiding your children this year.
• Orange Shirt Day – September 26, 2024:

On this day, we come together to honor and remember the children and families affected by residential schools. At FNC, we will provide our students with a deeper understanding of Orange Shirt Day, its meaning, and its importance to our community. We encourage everyone to wear their orange shirts in support.
• Professional Development Day – September 27, 2024:
This day is set aside for our staff’s professional development, and there will be no school for students. Our team will be working together to strengthen their skills to better support your child’s education.
• National Day for Truth and Reconciliation –
September 30, 2024:
In recognition of this important national holiday, school will be closed
on September 30. Prior to this day, we will ensure that student
s understand the significance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as we reflect on the history and legacy of
residential schools and reaffirm our commitment to reconciliation.
We look forward to an amazing year ahead and are excited to work with each of you to ensure that 2024-2025 is a successful and rewarding experience for all students. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Wishing everyone a wonderful start to the new school year!
Warm regards,
