Kapawe’no First Nation – At our Kapawe’no First Nation Collegiate and our four pillar schools we welcome you to the 2024-25 school year. As we reflect on the past school year’s successes and challenges, I want to thank our dedicated educators, staff, students, and families. Together, we have created an environment that values nation connection, academic excellence, and well-being.
Our commitment to integrating Indigenous perspectives and teachings into the curriculum has strengthened our students’ identities and equipped them with tools to thrive. Every year, our schools grow, and this year is no different. We have experienced growth in many areas.
The number of students to start the year is nearly the same as last year and growing on paper registrations. This year’s goal is retention and focusing on the details contributing to our strong finish last year.
This year, our schools have embraced several initiatives to enhance learning experiences. From implementing new programs that focus on Nêhiyawawin and who we are to establishing partnerships that provide additional resources for our students, we are proud of the positive strides made in our learning environments. The resilience and determination our students have displayed, particularly during these challenging times, exemplify the spirit of our local Nations and beyond.
Going forward, we are committed to nurturing well-rounded individuals who are academically proficient, culturally aware, and socially responsible. With continued support from parents and nation members, we will launch initiatives and programs to better serve our students. Your involvement makes a significant difference, and together, we will ensure our students reach their fullest potential.
