Welcome

Sakihitsowin (Love) – In honour of the many children that didn’t make it home

October 6, 2024

Kapawe’no First Nation – At KFN Collegiate and our schools we had an amazing day coming together to learn about the significance of Orange Shirt Day and the powerful story of Phyllis Webstad. Our students listened to the Redrum Speakers, Kelly Lizotte, Glenn Wabasca and Ernest Dumont, who shared their experiences and the incredible work they do to support Nêhiyawak nations. It was a day of reflection, learning, and understanding.
We also took a walk and placed orange ribbons on the fence at the church in Grouard to honour and remember the children who were impacted by residential schools and never did come home. It was a special moment to show our solidarity and commitment to truth and reconciliation.
Kinanaskomin (We are thankful) to Torrie Willier, Grade 12 student at Buffalo Bay Academy, the planning committee, and everyone who participated and helped make this day so meaningful!
