Amiskwaciwaskahikan (Edmonton), Treaty 6 – Kapawe’no First Nation Collegiate was proud to send 12 high school students from Buffalo Bay Academy with the opportunity to participate in a three-day Fine Arts Trip to amiskwaciwaskahikan. The students engaged in a variety of enriching experiences, including visits to the Royal Alberta Museum and Edmonton City Hall. They enjoyed captivating musical performances by Colin Campbell and Fred Mack and participated in special sessions led by professional musicians. A particular highlight was the inclusion of traditional drumming and an improvised freestyle rap session, which encouraged active student involvement.
The trip also featured a screening of a short film by Ejazz Allibhai, an exploration of the Ociciwan Indigenous Art Gallery, and hands-on creative activities at the Makerspace in the Stanley Milner Library. Additional activities included shopping at Southgate Mall and recreational swimming at the Millwoods Recreation Centre.
