Kapawe’no First Nation – Kapawe’no First Nation Collegiate is set to host an amazing celebration – sohkeyihtakosiw niyanan saka mostos mistikwaskihk (Honouring our Buffalo Drum) on Monday, December 9, 2024, starting at 9:30 am at our Kapawe’no Nehiyawak School gym. This gathering will highlight nêhiyawak pimachimowin of the KFN Collegiate and schools. The celebration will begin with a Grand Entry, a nêhiyawak tradition that sets the tone for nation gatherings. As the ceremony unfolds, attendees will be treated to an honour song performed by the talented Muskwak Jrs, Muskwak Srs, and students from Buffalo Bay Academy Srs, showcasing their singing and drumming.
The event will also feature a unity song and dance, underlining the importance of coming together as a nation. Kapawe’no First Nation Collegiate extends an open invitation to everyone to join in, where the spotlight will be on the amazing students of the KFN Collegiate and our Schools. This gathering not only honours the spirit of the buffalo drum but also serves as a testament to the strength and unity within the nation. It promises to be an enriching experience, celebrating the heartbeat of the nêhiyawak pimachimowin through music, dance, and togetherness.
