Kapawe’no First Nation – Kapawe’no Nehiyawak School prepared for sohkeyihtakosiw niyanan saka mostos mistikwaskihk (Honouring our Buffalo Drum) through our morning nehiyawêwin isihcikewin: From Studio and in classroom to assembly, on Thursday 5 December 2024. This morning session in the gym, featured our opening prayer by Grade 7 student Ben Chartrand, then our 7 Grandmother and Grandfather Sacred Teachings, drum performances, and music. The preparation involved significant time and effort, reflecting the dedication to nehiyawawein and nêhiyawak mino pimachimowin.
Since the start of September, students and teachers have been consistently engaged with the 7 Grandmother and Grandfather Sacred Teachings. These teachings have been repeated daily during morning sessions and throughout the day, aiming to deepen understanding and respect within the schools.
