Kapawe’no First Nation – What a fantastic day for our Sovereign Foods Program! Today, our Grade 3 students rolled up their sleeves and harvested the beautiful lettuce they’ve been diligently nurturing for the past seven weeks.
It’s been a wonderful journey watching these young gardeners take such pride in their work. From carefully starting the seeds indoors and ensuring they were watered, to the exciting day they transplanted their precious seedlings into our outdoor garden beds, their dedication has truly paid off. They’ve watched their lettuce grow bigger and stronger each day, learning valuable lessons about patience, care, and where our food comes from.
The excitement was palpable as they picked their crisp, fresh lettuce. Now, these proud students are encouraged to take their harvest home, share it with their families, and enjoy the delicious taste of their hard work!
